Mark Sganga, 2009 International Fingerstyle Guitar Champion

On the International scene, Mark Sganga has enthralled audiences from Stockholm to Kuala Lumpur to the Thredbo Jazz Festival in Australia. His dynamic playing has been featured on tours and recordings with the sublime Indian violin virtuoso Dr. L. Subramaniam, alongside esteemed greats such as Larry Coryell and Herbie Hancock.

In touring across the states, Mark has played opposite the legendary Taj Mahal in a Santa Cruz Festival. He has performed at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles. He regularly participates in The Woodchoppers Ball in Kent, OH. He is a repeat featured performer and a judge at The Indiana State Fingerstyle Guitar Competition. And for several years, Mark has been a main stage performer at the reputable Walnut Valley Guitar Festival in Wichita, KS where he won first place in 2009.

In NYC, Mark has appeared at notable music venues such as The Knickerbocker, Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, The Stone, S.O.B.’s and The Bitter End. He’s performed numerous times at Iridium, often as the humble guest of the legendary Les Paul.


Mark Sganga and his Trio headlined at the Cape May Jazz Festival in New Jersey. Mark also curated a Summer Concert Series at Torne Valley Vineyards where he led several all-star groups, including his trio, backing up 7 String Guitar Master, Bucky Pizzarelli.

Mark and his group support Bergen County’s “Table to Table” charity by playing for fundraisers at Alpine Country Club, Café Panache and other fine venues. And since 2013, Mark has been a regular performer for the humanitarian non-profit, Music That Heals, which provides live music as therapy for patients within several NYC health care facilities including NYU Langone Medical Center & Calvary Hospital Hospice.



A life long music educator, Mark has shared his love of music by leading numerous Master classes and workshops in improvisation, harmony, Latin rhythms, arranging for solo guitar, etc. including Vance Music in Wichita, KS, The Indiana State Fingerstyle championship, and the Los Angeles Music Academy. He has also co-led Master Classes for The Les Paul Tribute Festival at Ramapo College of New Jersey, where he has the pleasure of being an Adjunct Music Professor.
